Independent Workplace Investigations

Value for money Investigations

Simple Investigations - $5,300 (ex GST)

We recognise that workplace investigations can be expensive, but they don't need to be. Some lawyers may charge up to $300 per hour. While getting legal advice is important, a simple, independent, fact finding investigation does not need to cost that much.

We have developed a simplified process, with transparent costings, including a free, no-obligation, overview of our process demonstrating how we add value to your business.

Simple Investigations - $5,300 (ex GST)

Simple Investigations - $5,300 (ex GST)

Straightforward investigations with one complainant, one respondent and a single witness should not be expensive.

We will charge less than expensive employment lawyers, who traditionally provide services for large businesses and government organisations.

These investigations can be managed by us simply and with value for money in mind.

Medium Investigations - $10,000 (ex GST)

When an investigation involves more than one witness, additional evidence, or requires a deeper analysis, it naturally takes more time.

We still keep costs in check with a capped fee of $10,000, ensuring a thorough and fair process without surprises.

We’ll work with you to define the scope upfront, so the investigation remains focused and efficient.

Complex Investigations - We will scope and discuss with you.

Investigations with more complexity will take more time.

Occasionally, we may need to interview more witnesses. Sometimes there may be more than one complaint, as well as more documentary evidence to be analysed.

We will discuss the best approach with you when we help prepare the Investigation Terms of Reference, but we will cap the cost for you.

Our investigation approach

Many small businesses and charities dealing with straightforward complaints do not need all the bells and whistles of a full investigation. So, we will tailor the investigation, based on your unique needs, saving you time and money.

The Terms of Reference is your direction to us to start the investigation. We have experience developing terms for investigations, so we will provide you with simple Terms of Reference at no additional cost.

We will assign an investigator to interview the parties, gather information, and then provide you with a written investigation report to consider and act on as you see fit. This would be a good time to take legal advice from your lawyers but you will make significant savings by using our services first.

We will give you a verbal brief on our investigation and answer questions to help you make your final decisions.

We have developed a one-page, five-step process that you can download and review with your team to help you understand our approach.

Previous Investigations

Overview

This section provides potential clients with anonymised summaries of some previous investigations we have completed. For privacy reasons, we will not be disclosing identifying details.

Poor behaviour in the workplace

A new staff member was acting in a very aggressive manner towards staff and clients. Complaints were made, and we investigated. Upon interviewing the Respondent it was discovered that they had been given very poor direction on their role and levels of authority. This did not excuse their behaviour and ultimately a finding of serious misconduct was made, but it's a good lesson for managers to be very clear when inducting new staff into the organisation. A clear Position Description, good levels of guidance and communication can help prevent breakdowns in relationships.

Power Imbalance

Young impressionable colleagues are vulnerable to grooming attempts by narcissistic colleagues. Having really clear Codes of Conduct including roles when mentoring juniors, is vital. It is important for leaders to have honest conversations with all staff on red flags, understanding the need for boundary setting, and understanding the degree of harm that can be caused when developing intimate relationships in the workplace. That is not to say human relationships are prohibited, but declaring those relationships helps everyone ensure any potential conflicts can be managed.
